 Whitley Collection / Seaway China is pleased to announce a new, exciting Royal Doutlon Event to take place July 17, 18, 19, 2009 at the Ann Arbor Marriott Ypsilanti Eagle Crest Resort in Michigan. This not-to-be-missed event will feature highly regarded dealers drawn from the United States, Canada and Europe. Guests will have the opportunity to view and purchase the best in Royal Doulton and other masters of British design.
Serving as the venue for this cultural event, the Ann Arbor Marriott at Eagle Crest is nestled on 135 acres of championship golf and offers a tranquil park setting and resort-style amenities. Gregg Whittecar and Arron Rimpley owners of Whitley Collection and Seaway China and the show promoters along with their staff will be transforming the ballroom at the Ann Arbor Marriott into a dazzling art gallery, displaying the finest in British ceramic and pottery design.

ROYAL DOULTON ART POTTERY
The Royal Doulton Company, which would later become Royal Doulton after King Edward VII conferred an honorable royal warrant upon the pottery studio, was founded in 1815. The first art pottery was produced at Lambeth just outside of London and Burslem in Stoke-on-Trent, England during the 1880's. Charles Noke, who became Royal Doulton's Art Director and one of the most prolific artists associated with the company, was responsible for modeling a majority of the early figurines and character studies.
Since Royal Doulton's founding, thousands of unique hand sculpted figures have been created during the company's esteemed legacy of excellence. Countless hand sculpted variations of animals, figures, Beatrix Potter characters, Bunnykins, Flambé, Kingsware, Character and Toby Jugs, have become the signature art wares associated with the company. These prized collectibles have continued to fascinate Royal Doulton enthusiasts into the 21st century, just as they did over one hundred years ago.
